One of my very favorite books is, The Very Hungry Caterpillar , by Eric Carle. It's a beautifully illustrated story of how a caterpillar turns into a butterfly.

The basic story follows a caterpillar as it eats its way through some of his favorite foods before he finally pupates (now there's a word to learn) and emerges as a beautiful butterfly.

Use this story to teach your kids how to count to five, the names of the days of the week, and about different types of food. The caterpillar's diet is a fictional fantasy but the story does introduce the concept of the metamorphosis from egg to caterpillar to butterfly. It's a classic!

Anyway, long story short, the book inspired me to draw these butterfly coloring pages. I hope you'll have some fun with them. Happy coloring!
